A compact car manufactured by Nissan, the Sentra is a compact car. The Sentra is considered an export version of the Japanese Nissan Sunny, as the Sentra name is not used in Japanese markets. The Sentra is currently sold as the Bluebird Sylphy in Japanese markets and in some Asian markets it is sold as the Nissan Pulsar.
The Nissan Sentra is a relatively well-known vehicle in Nissan's line up and is their model for the compact segment of the market and has competitors such as the Toyota Corolla. The Sentra is considered to be on the big end of the compact car segment as well as one of the more expensive compact vehicles. The price for the Nissan Sentra ranges from just over $13,000 for the base model up to just over $21,000 for the most luxurious model.
The Nissan Sentra was first introduced for the 1982 model year as the export for the Nissan Sunny. The Sentra is currently equipped with either a 1.8 liter four cylinder engine or a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine. Some markets only offer the 1.8-liter engine for the Sentra.
There have been several distinct generations for the Sentra including the B13 that was produced from 1991-1994, the B14 manufactured from 1995 until 1999, the B15 available from 100-2006 models, and the B16 that began with the 2007 model year. The Sentra now boasts a 2.0-liter engine as well as a continuously variable transmission and six-speed manual transmission.
