My Altima is experiencing a rough idle when at stop.  The CEL came on about a week ago and the code stated a Cylinder 4 misfire. I've change the spark plugs, fuel filter, and cleaned out the throttle body, combustion chamber and intake manifold.

The car feels like it is going to stall with the RPMs jumping, but at soon as I give it a little gas or turn the AC on high, the RPMs level out.

Any ideas?  I would hate to take the car someone and get ripped off if it is something that can be done at home.

Thanks

My Altima does a similar thing.  At a stop, after idling ok for about 30 seconds the idle turns rough and the rpms drop.  The CEl will come on and then go off after a while.  Got a code PO300, random multiple misfires and cod PO102, airflow sensor error- low air flow.  It's going back to the dealer for repair. When I find out what they fixed I will let you know.

Umpire727 ... I would guess Throttle Position Sensor.......pdbrains... I would say Mass Air Flow Sensor.

Sounds good!  I'm going to see what codes pop up for mine today.

Thanks.

Burnnout - Is this an easily fixable problem?

Honestly... I would take the car to the dealer and have them diag. it..... could save you money in the long run.

it could possibly be the intake manifold gasket, check the intake near #4 cylinder see if you hear a vacuum leak in that area or you could possibly see part of the gasket blown out
