I may have one of the highest milage Xterra's out here, but am no having a spot of trouble. My 2000 Xterra has 185,000 miles on it, is a 5 speed, and has never given anyone any trouble. I am the second owner.

Last night, it started running rough and stalled at a stop light. I got it restarted, only to have is stall at the next light (running rough). I again got it restarted after getting it onto level ground and made it about 3 miles before it stalled again going uphill and wouldn't start. After a tow last night, it started at the repair shop this morning and ran about an hour before stalling out again. it wouldn't restart for a few hours but then started again, ran a short while and stalled. The on-board diagnostic is showing nothing wrong.

Any ideas or hints? I was getting ready to bring it in for it's second timing belt, it has a small oil leak on the front end and was going to fix it while the belt was being done too. My original thought was the fuel pump, but the mechanics don't seem to thing that's it....

HELP!!

-Dan.

Sounds like a fuel problem to me. The fuel sending unit / pump going bad on an Xterra is not uncommon.
