I read many mags and have seen 2 motor swaps on the 350z, an sr20 and also a v8 which i think is from the titan or an suv. now to my question, will the r34 skyline engine and tranny fit the 350z and would it be a smart choice, would it be better to just upgrade the vq35 or what would be the best swap? I am looking to have a fast daily driver.

You don't want to swap the motor in a 350z...... for a daily driver ... it really depends on what kind of power you are looking for ... if you are looking for a little more "somethin something" go with a header, nismo exhaust and CAI ..... if you are lookin for a beast check out the stillen.com for superchargers or greddy for the twin turbo kit.

I was looking more in the 600 to 700 h/p range. I thought about the r34 because I have heard about these high horse power setups on daily drivers. as compared to the vq35 the most i have seen in a daily driver has been aboun 470h/p. i have also been told that the skyline engine would take this amount of power in a stock bottom end. have anyone heard about a successful r34 swap in a 350z??? if not does any one know if it il fit???

Have you ever drivin a 600-700hp car ? .... not to sound like an ass... but that is an insane amount of hp for a daily driver and becomes a very unrealiable vehicle... wondering really what you are trying to accomplish ? ...do you just want to burn anything you come across on the street ?

no I have never driven a 600 to 700 h/p car. the closest ive been was with my last car which was a 94 toyota supra with 563 h/p to the wheels on a stock bottom end. I have seen as much as 826 h/p on a stock bottom end supra. I am a big fan of inline 6 engines and have been told the skyline engine is just as strong or stronger than a supra's. now you said that a 600 h/p engine is unreliable, can be if it isn't built or tuned right.

Well.... R34's are good motors.... not sure how much modification it would take to put it in a 350z..... but assuming that you are living in the US..... having a R34 motor means all your parts are going to come from Japan and are gonna cost you an arm and a leg. If you are looking for big power out of a Z get the twin turbo kit and get the motor built..... will save you many headaches in the future I assure you.
