am looking at purchasing a 1999 Nissan Maxima for my teenage daughter from a neighbor. The car has 152,000 miles on it, which they tell me is high but not for a Nissan as compared to an American car. 3.5 liter engine, 5 speed auto. heated leather seats, etc. The car is in great shape and has a wonderful major maintenance free record- just yearly maintenance. A battery and alternator were just put in this year. The neighbor is asking around $4000.00 which looks to be a pretty good deal based on Blue Book and regional prices. Our neighbor has suggested that I take it to my mechanic to be inspected and also to his mechanic to look at its service record. Any suggestions or comments that you have would be greatly appreciated. Being female, I am not sure if I always get straight answers from male car related people. I appreciate any help you could offer.

Knowing the Blue book is always a good start. Maybe check carfax too. Have someone you trust look at it and also be sure to check for oil/transmission leaks.

Hi New Forum member..
WELCOME!

I would go along with your neighbor and definetly have it checked out by a Maxima mechanic...not by a chey or ford guy...

Later...
