There is some bad News for those planning on buying a 2009 Nissan GT-R, if you didn’t order it before last week.  On September 5, 2008 Nissan increased the price of the GT-R, effectively immediately, so anyone who ordered their GT-R prior to the 5th will still pay the originally listed cost.  However, if you do plan on ordering one afterwards, the “base” price of the GT-R is now $76,840, up from $69,850, and the GT-R Premium model jumps from $71,900 to a healthy $79,090.  While very few details were given by Nissan, but they did cite “increase raw material” cost as the reason.

This will likely not affect many people, as Nissan stated that around 70% of the United States-bound GT-Rs have been pre-ordered in a program that began in February of 2008, with deliveries beginning sometime in early July.  Even with the price increase, there may not be a huge dip in the sales of the GT-R, as with a price tag of over $70,000, these price increases won’t likely scare off those who can afford to buy one.

If you are able to shrug off an increase like that and you’re interested in buying a new GT-R, they are available only at special dealerships (all 663 of them), and not only do they offer the Supercar for sale, but they also each have an in-house GT-R technician.  For more information on the awesome new Nissan GT-R, check out NissanUSA.com for a list of approved GT-R dealerships.
