Ok, here''s the deal.  I was at a customers house earlier this week, it was an older man.  I noticed an engine and transmission in the garage and we started talking about it.  It was a five speed tranny and a straight six nissan OHC engine.  He says the engine and tranny are still good but the car was totaled so they took the engine and all out.  He told me that if I wanted it to come get it or he was going to throw it away.  He told me that the car it came out was two door sports car, mid 80''s he thought, he couldnt remember year or model.  I want to know exactly what it came out of so I know what I''m working with.  I plan on rebuilding it and understand that certain engines the heads are interchangeble, so I can put a DOHC head on it.  I got the casting numbers off the side of the block but have looked all over the internet for information but have found nothing.  Does anyone on here know of a site or how to decyfer the codes?? Passenger side code is "076514", and there is two codes on the Driver side, "P30", and "4812M".  If anyone could help me out I''d really appreciate it.

The code "4812M" is really "4218M", my fault.  I took it to a friend of mine which is a nissan guru.  He told me it was an L22 I believe.  I''ll take some pictures of it tomorow and post them on here.

if its an L-series engine that could be from an old z like a 280 or it could be a skyline engine but more than likely an old z same engine but they stopped those in 82 and went to the v6 engine for the 300z
they still have alot of kick in them
if its free take it
if you dont have a use for it iom sure you can find someone that will want it
but the L22 was a four cylinder in the economy z''s and 510''s
but if u get a L 6cylinder block ull only be able to change to L heads but if u are lucky enogh to have found an old RB block you can switch it any head or crank out of that series engine for any year bolt patterns never changed
who knows maybe you found a rare LD20e
a very limited edition desiel inline 6
