Hi

I have a X-Trail 2.2Di diesel which has just developed a fault. I am hoping for some advise.
The car is a 2003 model and has the earlier Di engine and not the Dci one fitted to later models.

The car drives ok at low revs and when working gently however above 3,500rpm with the accelerator fully down the car starts to juddering and the revs will not pick up. This is more noticable on hills.

The car will rev happily to the redline when out of gear and will achieve more than 3,500rpm if the revs are built up gradually on a flat or downhill.

I thought at first the turbo might be playing up although the car pulls quite happily on the flat from 1,700rpm to 3,500rpm so i am not sure. It seems to be more of a fuel starvation/blockage i don't know if this is symptomatic of an early turbo failure.

However i am no mechanic so any practical advise is welcome.
