My boss took his two wheel drive PF in to the local shop, get the transmission fluid and filter changed. He was told that Nissan didn't put a filter in the 05 Pathfinder.
Does anyone know if this is true?

Yes it is true... there is not a serviceable filter that needs replacing.

This seems unusual to me, as all other automatic transmissions I have owned, have had filters in them. Is the deletion of this filter, a cost cutting idea? What about the 4 wheel drive versions, are they also free of filters, even though they may be subjected to a rougher service life?

Yep, no tranny filter.  I didnt know that either, 'til I researched it after you started the topic.

I am taking mine to the dealer for a full trans flush this saturday.  During a tranny service at the dealer, they are supposed to flush the trans cooler.  They are also supposed to inspect the fluid from the cooler, and the magnets in the bottom of the pan.

All newer Nissan's do not have replaceable tranny filters.

Oops... Correction guys, the dealer does a trans flush without pan removal.  They would only remove the pan if they need to inspect due to a problem.

Nobody blew smoke.  I was looking up info from the service manual and messed that up all on my own.
