Anyone run into a problem with the interior lights.  It seems to be more than just the bulb (06 X-terra, 42,000 miles) since the display where the odometer works when the headlights are off, but turns off when you turn the lights on.  I checked the fuses and don't see anything blown.  It's getting old driving around in a dark car at night.  Also, the fuel guage is whacked as it hardly works and usually just reads all the way on Empty with the gas light.  I attribute this to my fiance's propensity to drive with no gas so often.  I know it's bad for the filter as well.... I know, but telling her......  never mind.  Any help to DIY is greatly appreciated.

The fuel sending units going bad are a common problem with the X......... your electrical problem sounds like a short.

Yeah, after reading the bulletins, it's obvious the fuel sending units stink.  Anyone know what it'll cost for a new one.  Is it easy to do myself.  Sorry for the newbie question, but I don't see any in the search.

If you are interested in purchasing the new fuel sending unit... $65 shipped to most.
