can't time it or get any fire....help

93 altima, shade tree mechnic tore it down. scattered parts every where, can't find bolts or some parts. here os problem i have managed to put the cams in (not sure if they are in the right posistion) i did bring the #1 piston to tdc , put the cams in , put the dist. on and tryied to fire it but i am not gettong any fire. i checked for fuel and made sure the wires were hooked up, i was told of i missed a ground wire it won't fire, is that true? can some one tell me how to time this thing , o am not a mech and this is way over my head but i have no help so i have to get ot fixed, please help,,,,,,,,,thank you
